Chiesa dei Santi Defendente e Rocco
The Chiesa dei Santi Defendente e Rocco is also known as the Church of San Defendente. This religious building was erected during the plague in the 1570s, in fulfilment of a vow made by the Community of Clusone.
The simple architectural structure follows the pattern of the late-15ᵗʰ-century churches commonly found throughout the area. The church is characterised by two elements: the small bell tower and the three-bay portico used to accommodate the faithful who could not fit inside.
Interestingly, between 1995 and 2004, further restoration works, inside and out, brought to light other frescoes dating back to the 15ᵗʰ and 16ᵗʰ centuries.
Directions: To reach the Chiesa dei Santi Defendente e Rocco, we recommend parking at Via Vittorio Emanuele 53. At the roundabout, take the first exit then travel along Via San Defendente for about 500 metres.
