Fanzago planetary clock
A visit to the Fanzago Clock and its beautiful square must be included in the walk through the city center of Clusone. Here you can admire the clock and the beautiful building of the town hall while drinking a coffee in the square. The Clock is a 1583 masterpiece created by Pietro Fanzago.
It’s characterized by a simple but ingenious mechanism. One of the peculiarities of the Planetary Clock is that with a single arrow indicate the time, the month, the day, the zodiac signs and moon phases too.
Curiosity: the clock is still intact! It’s one of the few clocks of its time that is still working with its original pieces and mechanism.
Driving directions: once you have parked your car in the spacious parking in S. Marco Road (Piazzale del Sole), walk along this street for a short distance, keeping the left to head towards the historic center; continue on Lattanzio Querena Road for about 150 meters. Turn slightly to the left and take Piazza dell’Orologio (the Square Clock): here you will find the historic Planetary Clock.
