Palazzo Carrara Spinelli
Consisting of several buildings constructed in the 16ᵗʰ, 17ᵗʰ and 18ᵗʰ centuries, the Palazzo served as the residence for one of the most conspicuous families of Clusone, the Carrara Spinelli.
Giovanni Battista was the first of the Carrara Spinelli clan to move to Clusone and live in the house of his maternal ancestor Giovanni Spinelli. Later, great-granddaughter Clara, the Contessina for the Clusones, married poet Andrea Maffei, resulting in the name Carrara Spinelli Maffei, both for the family and the Palazzo.
Interestingly, Countess Clara hosted some of the most illustrious personalities of the 19ᵗʰ century in this Palazzo, such as composer Giuseppe Verdi and the literary-politician Carlo Tenca.
